Electroencephalogram electrode unit for small animals “EEG Mini-Cap”
Dr KAWASHIMA Ryuta, Dr Jorge J Riera, and Dr SUMIYOSHI Akira et al, Institute of Development, Aging and Caner, Tohoku University, developed novel Electroencephalogram electrode unit for small animals. This unit is capable of detecting as many EEG signals as possible from the limited brain surface space of small animals and simultaneous measuring EEG-fMRI or EEG-NIRS during their research on functional brain Imaging for small animals.
This device can be combined with various pharmacological and genetic methods, and thus can be an innovative drug evaluation system not only in basic research field of brain neuroscience but also in the pharmaceutical industry.
The device had been commercialized by Cortech Solutions, Inc. (Cortech) in United States as “EEG Mini-Cap”. (This Cortech’s product is unfortunately unavailable now.)
