Vanadium Solid Battery (VSB)
The technology results of the "Vanadium Solid Battery (hereinafter “VSB”)" developed by Tomoo YAMAMURA (previously belongs to, Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University, currently, Professor, Institute for Integrated Radiation and Nuclear Science, Kyoto University), Kiyoshi SAKAMOTO(Researcher) and others, which does not use organic solvents, is non-flammable, and can charge and discharge large currents, were transferred to MKPLUS Co., Ltd. Through joint development efforts with the Kyoto University (Prof. Tomoo YAMAMURA and others) and Tohoku University (Prof. Hidemi KATO and others), the company has completed a mass-production prototype and started commercialization.
The VSB can be used in a wide range of applications, such as stationary storage systems (home storage devices and industrial rechargeable devices), uninterruptible power supplies, and any transportation devices, taking advantage of its outstanding durability and safety performance, such as not to ignite or explode, as well as its volumetric energy density comparable to that of lead-acid batteries and its ultra-rapid charge/discharge capability.
